On February 27, 2025, the H2CAT network successfully held its Demo Day at Leitat Terrassa’s facilities, bringing together over 80 researchers and representatives from the Catalan industry to promote innovation in renewable hydrogen. The event highlighted the latest technological advancements and fostered collaboration among key sector players.
The event commenced with opening remarks from Sergi Artigas, Innovation Strategy Director at Leitat, followed by a welcome address from H2CAT network director, Miriam Díaz de los Bernardos. Subsequently, Anna Bellart from ACCIÓ reviewed the main ongoing projects in Catalonia related to renewable hydrogen and industrial decarbonization.
Several researchers shared their innovative projects in the field of renewable hydrogen, including ICFO researcher Blanca Belsa, who showcased ICFO’s efforts on the development of sustainable catalysts and systems for scalable electrolysis. Other presenters included Martí Calvet (LEITAT), Rossana Boccia (IREC) and Amador Pérez (ICN2).
Following the presentations, attendees engaged in networking sessions and technological demonstrations, allowing them to interact with researchers, explore prototypes, and establish potential collaborations.
The day concluded with a guided tour of Leitat’s laboratories, providing participants with firsthand insight into the facilities where pioneering renewable hydrogen projects are developed.
This Demo Day was made possible through collaboration between the H2CAT network, ACCIÓ, and the Bioenergy Cluster of Catalonia, with support from Leitat, AGAUR, and the Department of Research and Universities. The high level of participation and quality of presentations reinforce H2CAT’s commitment to promoting renewable hydrogen as a key element for a more sustainable industry in Catalonia.
