SOREC2 Consortium gathers in Ferrara for 3rd general assembly

The meeting allowed the project team to review progress and discuss new strategies.

The SOREC2 consortium held its 3rd General Assembly on June 3, 2025, at the historic building of Chiostro di Santa Maria delle Grazie, part of the Polo Chimico Biomedico Mammuth of the Università degli Studi di Ferrara in Ferrara, Italy. The meeting allowed the project team to review progress, plan next steps, and discuss new strategies for the coming months.

The morning kicked off with Work Package 1 (WP1), which presented proposed adjustments to the project timeline, pending an anticipated extension. WP5  then highlighted three citizen workshops held in late 2024 and the recent Quadruple Helix Foresight Workshop in Brussels. WP6 concluded the morning with updates on communication activities and dissemination efforts.

In the afternoon, technical advancements took center stage. WP4 presented progress on SOREC2 technology upscaling, discussing scalability challenges and potential integration pathways. WP3 members shared catalyst design innovations, including potential approaches to solve identified hurdles. Finally, WP2  showcased advancements in the photonic structure design, essential for the development and functionality of the project’s photoelectrochemical  compact device.

The meeting concluded with a social dinner in the historical city of Ferrara, allowing consortium members to strengthen bonds and to reignite the team spirit.
