ICFO executes Proof-of-Concept project for Repsol S.A.
The project seeks to synthesize added value chemicals from CO2 electroreduction

In the context of current industry trends towards sustainable, net-zero and fully circular chemicals, project MAXVAL (Maximizing the Valorization of CO2 streams) aims at demonstrating the electro-synthesis of propylene oxide in a CO2 electroreduction system. The Proof-of-Concept project, funded by REPSOL S.A., is led by Prof. Dr. Pelayo García de Arquer, leader of the CO2 Mitigation Accelerated by Photons research group. This project, along with other existing industrial collaborations, is an example of ICFO’s Clean Planet program exploitation-approach to research, seeking to make a significant impact to society.
