ICFO participates at H2CAT’s Innovation Summit
ICFO presented the progress of its “RES2H2” project

On November 14, 2024, the H2CAT Network organized its annual H2CAT Innovation Summit at CosmoCaixa Barcelona. This event brought together the renewable hydrogen innovation ecosystem in Catalonia, showcasing the main collaborative projects developed by the network’s research groups. During the event, some of the most innovative technological projects in this field were presented, developed by the network’s research groups and driven by H2CAT’s transfer programs.
The H2CAT Innovation Summit also featured a networking space where a selection of posters showcased the main collaborative projects on renewable hydrogen currently underway in Catalonia, along with a display of technologies and prototypes from the network’s research groups, as part of a special edition of the H2CAT Demo Day. Among the participants was the ICFO, which presented the progress of its “RES2H2” project in a poster format. This initiative focuses on improving hydrogen production through electrolysis by optimizing the efficiency and sustainability of the process. ICFO’s participation in the summit highlights its commitment to clean energy research and its contribution to advancing the renewable hydrogen sector in the region.
H2CAT Innovation Summit also featured roundtables addressing the technological challenges of the sector and the future of hydrogen technologies looking ahead to 2050. The presence of institutions like ICFO underscores the importance of collaboration between research centers, companies, and government entities to drive the transition toward a more sustainable economy based on renewable energy.
The H2CAT Network, coordinated by Eurecat in collaboration with institutions such as the Catalan Institute of Chemical Research, the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and Rovira i Virgili University, aims to promote the transfer of renewable hydrogen technologies to industry and society, positioning Catalonia as a leader in this emerging field.
